Daniel Ramón Vidal

He holds a degree and PhD in Biological Sciences from the Universitat de València. He did post-doctoral stays at the Wageningen University of Agriculture (Holland). He was Professor of Food Technology at the University of Valencia and Research Professor at the Institute of Agrochemistry and Food Technology of the Spanish National Research Council. In 2003 he founded the biotechnology company Biopolis S.L., specialising in probiotics and postbiotics for human and animal nutrition, and in 2007 the company Lifesequencing S.L., specialising in microbiome analysis. Both companies were acquired in 2017 by the US multinational Archer Daniels Midland Co (ADM). Since 2023 he has been Professor of Food Technology at the Cardenal Herrera CEU University.
His technological results are protected by 32 patent families, most of them transferred and in use. He has published more than 170 articles in prestigious international indexed journals. Among others, he has obtained the Danone Institute's Scientific Career Award, the Juan de la Cierva National Research Award and the ‘Nutrachampion’ International Award. He is a Full Member of the Spanish Royal Academy of Engineering.
